Sage Picked Fourth in Coaches’ Preseason Poll

NEW YORK – Sage was picked fourth in the Skyline Conference Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Friday.

Five-time Skyline Champion Farmingdale State was selected to when the conference again with 77 points and five first place votes. Mt. St. Mary followed with a close second place with 75 points and four first place points.

Mt. St. Vincent was picked third with 61 points, and Sage was selected fourth with 58 points and one first place vote to round out the top four.

Sage is coming off an 18-17 (9-5 Skyline) season last year led by sophomore Alexa Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) (.414, 31 runs, 24 RBI's, seven homeruns) and Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) (.365, 23 runs, 35 RBI's, five homeruns) at the plate.

Returning to the Gator pitching staff are Katie Kovage (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) (8-8, 3.41 ERA, 36 strikeouts) and Lindsay Brace (Moriah, NY/Moriah Central) (8-8, 4.05 ERA, 67 strikeouts).

The Gators also bring rookies Kiersten Duncan (Millerton, NY/Taconic Hills) and Allison Ford (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) to the 2016 squad.
