Eagles remain perfect with win over Sage; Gators drop nightcap to Trine

Kissimmee, FL---- The Sage Colleges softball team was in action on Wednesday afternoon facing the Eagles of Bridgewater College (VA) in the first of two games for the Gators.

Bridgewater posted a 9-1 win over Sage to improve to 5-0 on the year. In the nightcap, Sage faced Trine University and fell 6-0. Sage is now 3-3 on the year.

Bridgewater College tallied the 9-1 win on Wednesday afternoon to remain perfect on the season at they stand at 5-0. The loss put the Gators at 2-2 on the year.

Sage's sophomore catcher Tricia Gaulin (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) put the Gators on the scoreboard as she drove in Karlie Williams (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), who reached on a single up the middle in the top of the fourth. Williams finished with a 1-2 performance with a run scored for Sage.

Bridgewater's Kasey Anderson was 4-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI, while Aven Thomas was 1-3 with three RBIs and a triple for the Eagles.

Sage's junior pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) suffered the loss after four plus innings of work with six earned runs. She fanned two in the action. She drops to 1-2 on the year.

Bridgewater's Summer Ramsey picked up the win to tally her first victory in 2012 as she allowed just one earned run off five Sage hits.

Sage's senior Tiffany Bezio (Whitehall, NY/Whitehall) connected on a double for the Gators and was 1-2 at the plate for the Gators in the nightcap.

Rachel Smith (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) suffered the loss to fall to 2-1 after scattering 11 hits and yielding five earned runs. She was joined on the rubber by sophomore Jessica Saburro (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) worked one inning for the Gators in her first appearance in a Sage uniform.
