Sage Splits on Senior Day

ALBANY – Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) combined for 16 kills with a .324 hitting percentage as Sage split with St. Joseph's – Brooklyn and Kean on senior day.

Prior to today's matches, Peter Fabrykiewicz (Delancey, NY/Andes) and Anthony Gerace (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) were honored as a part of Sage's senior day.

Sage (14-19, 11-5 Skyline) beat St. Joseph's – Brooklyn (5-16, 2-13) in three sets (25-6, 25-14, 25-14). Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) led the way for the Gators with a .583 hitting percentage with a nine kills and 13.0 points. Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) added seven kills with a .778 hitting percentage. Gerace led the way in the assist column with a season-high 31.

Guyton had a game-high four aces with Cecchi adding three of his own.

On defense, Sage was led by Fitzpatrick with six digs, and Cecchi and Guyton added five each. Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) recorded three total blocks with Gerace and Chris MacArthur (Hillsdale, NY/Taconic Hills) each added two.

Clyde Delacruz led the Bears with six kills, and Norrin Martinez had 14 assists. Delacruz and Thomas Kennedy each had a block.

In the nightcap with Kean (28-6, 16-0 Skyline), Sage lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-13). Guyton and Cecchi led Sage with 14 and 11 kills respectively. Fitzpatrick had 18 assists with Gerace adding ten of his own.

On defense, Fitzpatrick, Guyton and Cecchi combined for 21 kills.

Leading the Cougars on offense were Jacob Kauffman and Tommy Rosario with 13.5 points each. Steve Schrank totaled 34 assists.

On defense, Nick Breslin tallied seven digs while Rosario had an impressive 10 total blocks.

With one more day of Skyline regular season play left, Sage currently sits at third in the conference standings behind Ramapo (17-14, 13-2Skyline) and Kean (28-6, 16-0). Mt. St. Vincent (12-14, 8-6 Skyline) and NJCU (18-17, 9-7 Skyline) have each punched their tickets for the playoffs. The sixth and final spot is being fought for be Purchase (11-15, 5-9 Skyline) and Yeshiva (5-17, 4-10 Skyline).

The Skyline playoffs are set to begin Wed., Apr. 6.
