Gators Fall Short in Friday Matchup

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College battled with SUNY Plattsburgh Friday evening but the effort was not enough in the end as they lost 13-11.

The Gators were led by attacker Nate Kettle (Killbuck, NY/Salamanca) who finished the contest with five goals. The sophomore added two ground balls to the statsheet.

RSC also saw two goals from midfielder Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood), a graduate student, and a goal a piece from senior midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty), sophomore attacker Mame Diba (New York, NY/Haldane), senior midfielder Anthony Marrone (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township), and senior midfielder Ryan Hanna (Flanders, NJ/Mt. Olive).

Goalkeeper Collin Dougherty (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia), a graduate student, registered five saves.

SUNY Plattsburgh (3-1) extends its winning streak to three with the victory.

The Cardinals featured balanced scoring including two players with two or more goals and eight others contributing one.

Senior attacker John Eiseman found the back of the net three times while junior attacker Donald Woods scored twice.

Looking ahead, the Gators (0-5) are back in action next Wednesday as they head to Danbury, CT for a 6:30 PM matchup with Western Connecticut State University.


Gators Bites: The Gators returned 24 players to this year’s edition… Attacker Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central), a graduate student, and sophomore attacker Nate Kettle (Killbuck, NY/Salamanca) headline the group…Martin began the spring as the program career in points (139), goals (91), and assists (48)…Kettle, voted a co-captain as a sophomore, capped his rookie campaign with a second-team All-Empire 8 Conference honor…Junior defender Drew Rankin (Painted Post, NY/Corning Painted Post), junior midfielder Akili Richardson (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy), Kettle, and senior midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) were voted co-captains.
