Pritchard takes seventh as Gators post Fourth Place Showing at Empire 8 Fall Championship

SAGE GOLFERS FINISH IN FOURTH AT 2019 EMPIRE 8 FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hamilton, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's golf team wrapped up their fall season on Sunday afternoon at the  2019 Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship which was held at Colgate University's Seven Oaks Golf Course, a par 72 and 6,915 yard course.

Utica won the team championship with a two-day score of 625 (313-312) and knocked off nine-time defending champions, SJFC. The Cardinals finished in second place with a 632 (317-315), while Oswego State took third (642, 317-325) and the Gators picked up fourth with a 670 (344-326). Elmira finished with a 687 (348-339) and Nazareth took home sixth with an 806 (406-400).

SJFC's Colin McGaugh was the medalist with a 150 after shooting a 74 on Sunday and a 76 on his opening day round.

For the Gators, junior Blake Pritchard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) picked up an impressive tie for seventh place with a two-day total of 160 (83-77). Rookie Connor Affinito (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) tied for 17th place overall with his 167 (84-83). 

Senior Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) shot a 171 and tied for 21st with an 89 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday. Sophomore golfer Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Trinity Christian School) continued to improve with every round he plays as he took home 23rd place after carding an 84 on Sunday to finish with a 172 (88-84). Senior Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) finished in 29th place with a 184 (93-91). Sage's Aidan O'Neil (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) did not play on Sunday and withdrew from the events.
