Hilton, NY — Russell Sage College women's cross country team had three student-athlete recognized with the release of the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Cross Country All-Conference Teams.
RSC competed on April 9 at the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Cross Country Championship hosted at the Houghton College Dream Cross Country Course, a 5 k course. St. John Fisher College won the women's team championship and the Gators picked up third place. The Gators placed third overall in the team scoring, also a program-best.
RSC's rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) was named the Rookie of the Meet after her impressive finish in the championship as the top freshman to cross the finish line. Feeney picked up a third place finish with her time of 19:32.6 and was also named to the First Team for her efforts. It is the highest finisher by a Russell Sage student-athlete at the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships.
Rookie Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) was also saluted with a spot on the First Team after she finished in seventh place with her time of 19:42.9.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Spring Women's Cross Country Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
RSC's sophomore Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) was named to the Sportswoman Team. At the championships, she finished in 21st place in 21:27.9.
