Glassboro, NJ-- The Sage Colleges' women's cross country team competed on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals hosted by Rowan University. SUNY-Geneseo won the women's team crown with a score of 90, just edging Oneonta State with a score of 112 and RPI with a 121 to take third in the 43 team field. Sage picked up 35th place for the day at the meet.
Sage's finisher at the race was junior Shannon Farrell (Indian Lake, NY/Indian Lake Central) as she took home 154th place in a time of 24:06.08. Rookie Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) was the next scorer for the Gators as she posted a time of 24:19.2 to take 166th. Over the course of the 2016 season, Farrell, who is a first-time runner having played for Sage's women's lacrosse team previously in 2015, has been the top Gator runner at every single meet this fall.
Sophomore Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) posted a time 26:11.1 and finished in 227th, while senior captain Hannah Tighe (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) took 243rd in 26:56.0. Senior Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 253rd in 27:24.2, while sophomore Julia Skoda (Philmont, NY/Taconic Hills) finished 293rd in 29:51.5. Rookie Joanna Tavolaro (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) recorded a time of 32:26.4 to take 299th to round out Sage's competitors.
