Trio of Gators Garner All-E8 Honors

Moisidis

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College had three players: defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville), and sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) earn All-Empire 8 Conference honors.  Head Coaches voted upon the teams for today's announcement by the conference office.

Moisidis, the 2022 E8 Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year, and Salvione made the second-team.

Moisidis ranked fourth on the circuit with 3.89 digs per-set. She registered double-digit digs in 17 games, and accumulated 20+ digs five times. Moisidis closed the fall ranked second in program records for career digs with 1,746.  She totaled 53 assists and 26 aces this fall.

Salvione led the E8 with 55 aces, 0.60 per-set. She topped RSC (7-18) with 2.67 kills per-set and 342 digs.  The UAlbany transfer, who ranked sixth in the conference with 3.76 digs per-set, tallied ten double-doubles in her first season as a Gator.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2023 E8 Women's Soccer Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.  Gerkman represented the Gators on the squad.
