Gators Recognize Three Before Home Finale

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College closed its home schedule by falling to visiting Hartwick 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19).

The Gators received four or more kills from four different players in the Empire 8 Conference setback.

Junior outside hitter Macey Salvione (Johnstown, NY/Gloversville) led the group with 12 kills. She added nine digs.

Sophomore middle hitter Allison Louque (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) tossed in seven kills on .400 hitting, while sophomore setter Emma Freidel (Utica, NY/New Hartford) dished out 29 assists.

Defensive specialist/libero Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany), a grad student, the reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year, registered 13 digs.

Junior right side Staecia Silofau paced Hartwick (10-8/5-2 E8) with 11 kills on .348 hitting.

Freshman setter Vanessa Seymour distributed 27 assists, while junior outside hitter Shawlyn Thornton and sophomore middle hitter Shelby Swartz contributed eight kills each.

RSC (6-15/1-6 E8) closes its fall with four road contests. The run begins in 10 days with their E8 season finale on Friday, October 27 at Houghton.

Senior Night: Before tonight's contest, Russell Sage College Athletics recognized three student-athletes: outside hitter Katherine Jepsen (Hudson, NY/Hudson), defensive specialist Skylar Sisson (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville), and right side Caitlin Hammecker (Warnerville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville)  for their contributions to the women's volleyball program.


Notes: The fall marks the debut of Rosilyn Cummings at the helm of the Gators…She took over for Sandy Austein-Collins ’87, who retired in March after 26 seasons of collegiate coaching, 13 of which came at RSC…Cummings registered her first official win on October 6 at Elmira…Salvione, who has registered seven double-doubles, including four in-a-row between Sept. 16-29, this autumn, began the week leading the Gators in kill per-set (2.34)…Moisidis surpassed 1,500 career digs on Sept. 9 at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational...She closed the night fourth in school annals with 1,697 career digs…Helen Putriment '14 is third with 1,700 career digs, while Alison Archambault '03 sits second with 1,708…The reigning Empire 8 Conference Libero/Defensive Player of the Year topped the conference in both digs and digs per-set in each of the past two seasons.
