TROY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College broke three program records this evening at the Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI.
Sophomore Ashley Rabbitt (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) set the school standard in the hammer throw with a 31.77m toss, while sophomore Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady) lowered her record in the 400m hurdles with a 1:11.67 clocking.
Senior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) registered a pair of top-15 performances. She was 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.51 and completed 1500m in 5:16.98, good for 14th.
On the men's side, senior El Hadji Iba Sy (Bronx NY/Emma Lazarus) finished second in the 400m dash with an RSC record time of 50.55. He teamed up with junior David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia), sophomore Dominic Harkness (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac), and freshman Ethan Turner (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) to help the Gators' 4x400m relay cross the line second with a 3:32.18 clocking.
Freshman Kyle Coyne (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) was ninth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.94, while freshman Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) achieved a mark of 12.29m in the triple jump, also good for ninth.
The men's team earned 16 points, good for ninth out of 12 competing institutions, while the RSC women were tenth out of 12 schools with eight points.
RSC will compete at the Empire 8 Conference Championships, hosted by Saint John Fisher, on May 3 and 4.
Gator Bites: After setting 13 indoor program records, the Gators established three school outdoor records on Saturday, March 30 at Hamilton…Junior Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) was tabbed the Empire 8 Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 8…She won the 10,000m run at Utica with a time of 39:04.82…The clocking qualified the junior for the Regional Championships.
