Gators drop hard-fought match to WestConn, 3-1

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College women's soccer team hosted the Colonials of Western Connecticut  State University on Tuesday night in a non-conference match. WestConn's junior forward Myah Croze (Bristol, Conn.) scored her national leading sixth game-winning goal and the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team came from behind to defeat Russell Sage College at  Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Athletic Complex.

Croze, who scored her 10 goal of the season, in the 52nd minute, surpassed freshman Teresa Ashbrook of Trine University who had five game-winners coming into Tuesday's action against Manchester University.  Ashbrook did not play against the Spartans.

The Gators took a 1-0 lead when senior forward Hallie Klosterman (Modena, NY/Wallkill) scored her first goal of the season following an assist by junior defender Julia Gerringer (Lagrange, NY/Arlington) at the 17:18 mark in the first half.

WestConn freshman midfielder Suzana Imatovski (Seymour, Conn.), this week's Little East Conference Rookie of the Week, continued her hot streak by scoring a pair of unassisted goal late in the 26th and 86th minutes, respectively.

Both teams drew over the final 9:17 and shared a 1-1 tie during intermission.

Senior goalie Karly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) made two saves in goal for WestConn, which is a perfect 7-0 this season.

Senior Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) turned away five shots for Russell Sage College, which drops to 2-3-2 on the season.

The Gators are at Alfred University on Saturday.  Game time is slated for 1 pm.
