North Adams, MA — Russell Sage College women's soccer team traveled to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a non-conference match with the Trailblazers. RSC's sophomore forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) broke a 0-0 tie with the lone goal of the night at the 49:14 mark. With the win, RSC is now 2-1-1 on the year. MCLA falls to 0-3.
Key scored the game-winner, her first of the season and her career, on a pass from graduate player Samantha Schmidt (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen). RSC dominated play as they had 30 shots in the contest, while their defense held MCLA to only four total shots. Schmidt now has seven career assists and nine points with the Gators.
Senior Mickaela Buzzy (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) worked the first half and was relieved at the half by rookie goalie Kiersten Lynch (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont). The pair earned their first combined shutout of the year as Lynch improves to 2-0 on the year.
RSC is back in action on September 14 travelling to Skidmore College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match-up next.
