Gators Cruise Past Keuka 15-5

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College overcame a slow start to cruise past visiting Keuka 15-5 on Friday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), the Empire 8 Conference leader in points per-game, goals, and goals per-game, topped the Gators (6-6/2-2 E8) with seven goals and one assist. Following the home E8 victory, she now has 150 career goals.

Junior attacker Maddison Walter (Moreau, NY/South Glens Falls) contributed three goals, seven draw controls and three groundballs, while freshman defender Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth) and freshman attacker Elizabeth Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) scored their first collegiate goals.

RSC gained control of the contest via a 10-1 run across 26:49 spanning the first, second and third quarters.

Junior midfielder Grace Morse paced the visiting Wolves (1-12/0-6 E8) with a pair of goals.

RSC, closing in on tying the program single-season record for wins, has an important E8 Conference game on Wednesday afternoon at Utica.


Gator Bites: The spring marks the first with Matt Johnson at the helm of the Gators…He got the first win on his RSC ledger on March 5 at SUNY Poly…Ten players, including eight starters, returned this season…RSC within striking distance of the program record for wins in a season...The 2017 Gators won seven games and qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament...Senior midfielder Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) began the season ranked second in school records in both points and goals…She became just the second Gator to score 100 career goals vs. Marywood on March 3 and reached 150 career goals in the E8 win vs. Keuka on April 19…Hines was announced as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week honors the next day for her seven goal, one assist performance…She began the week leading the E8 in points per-game, goals, and goals per-game…Senior midfielder Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was selected the E8 Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 10…She achieved a pair of milestones while helping the Gators go 2-0…Queeney became just the fourth RSC player to surpass 100 career points in Tuesday's win at SUNY Poly and set the program record for career draw controls in Saturday's victory vs. Castleton…The senior totaled five goals, six assists, 14 draw controls, four groundballs, and three caused turnovers across the pair of triumphs…Queeney surpassed 200 career draw controls on March 30 at Nazareth.
