Big Second Half Propels Gators to Fourth-Straight Win

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College extended its winning streak to four with this afternoon's 18-12 non-conference home victory against SUNY Potsdam.

Senior midfielder Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) led the Gators, which out-scored the visitors 14-5 across the final 30:02, with seven goals on 12 shots.  She added five draw controls.

Senior midfielder Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) contributed four goals, while senior attacker Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) added three goals and an assist.

Senior Ashley Hearn (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) was a force in the midfield during the comeback win. The co-captain tallied nine draw controls, six groundballs, five caused turnovers, a goal, and an assist.

The RSC defense forced 31 turnovers and limited the Bears to a 55.5 clearing percentage this afternoon. Junior defender Angelina Schaefer (Latham, NY/Shaker) and freshman defender Madisyn Bullock (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) also scored goals during game-deciding stretch.

Attacker Anita Reitano (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), a grad student, topped SUNY Potsdam (3-1) with four goals and six assists.

The Gators (4-2) play next on Saturday afternoon at Hood.


Gator Bites: The spring marks the first with Matt Johnson at the helm of the Gators…He got the first win on his RSC ledger on March 5 at SUNY Poly…Ten players, including eight starters, returned this season…Senior midfielder Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) began the season ranked second in school records in both points and goals…She became just the second Gator to score 100 career goals vs. Marywood on March 3…Hines was announced as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week honors the next day for her seven goal, one assist performance…Senior midfielder Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was selected the E8 Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 10…She achieved a pair of milestones while helping the Gators go 2-0…Queeney became just the fourth RSC player to surpass 100 career points in Tuesday's win at SUNY Poly and set the program record for career draw controls in the March 9 victory vs. Castleton…The senior totaled five goals, six assists, 14 draw controls, four groundballs, and three caused turnovers across the pair of triumphs.
