Gage leads Gators past Alfred, 15-4

Alfred, NY —Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team travelled to Alfred University and collected a 15-4 Empire 8 win. The Gators are now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8. Graduate performer Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) added six points after scoring four goals with a pair of assists.

The Gators led 8-2 at the half and were led by a team effort as they had eight different players score in the contest, including five players that scored multiple goals. 

Rookie Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) added a goal with three assists to go with her five ground ball pickups and seven draw controls.

Gage is now seventh in career points at Sage with 67 adding 47 goals and 20 assists. She is second all-time with her 20 assists, while her 47 goals in eighth best. She also boasts 121 career ground balls and is second on the career list behind Monica Koralus (125) and also second with her 125 career draw controls. She is second behind Koralus who had 185 career draw controls.

In goal for the Gators, senior Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) collected the win after playing the first half with two goals allowed and five saves in 30 minutes of play. Senior Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) worked the second half allowing just two goals with a pair of saves.

Sage returns to action on April 3 travelling to St. John Fisher College for a 2 p.m. Empire 8 contest.
