ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Basketball had two players: men’s basketball guard Jalon Borders ’22 (Bartow, FL) and women’s basketball guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY) make the Empire 8 Conference 25th Anniversary Teams.

Borders, the only RSC player to be a three-time All-Empire 8 Conference first-team pick, graduated third among Gators with 1,095 career points. His 14.0 scoring average across just 78 games and 414 made field goals also rank third in career program records. Borders, who tallied 120 career steals and 188 career assists, good for second and third respectively in RSC annals, helped the Gators qualify for the E8 Championship Tournament three times, including reaching the Semifinals in the 2021 edition. The guard, who earned his degree in business administration, was a two-time RSC Male Student-Athlete of the Year, receiving the accolade for his sophomore and senior campaigns.  To date, he is the lone Gator, male or female, to win twice.

Faraj played at RSC as freshman and sophomore, taking home major E8 awards in both campaigns.  She was voted the Conference’s 2021-22 Rookie of the Year and the 2022-23 Player of the Year. Faraj established the program single-season record 524 points as a sophomore, and received an honorable mention for the 2023 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team.
