Gators Return to the Win Column vs. Union

 ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College erased a halftime deficit to defeat visiting Union 52-42 this afternoon.

Sophomore guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City), one of three Gators to register double figures, led all participants with 17 points. She added seven rebounds, and three steals, and scored 12 of her points in the fourth quarter to help RSC end a seven-game slide.

Junior guard Malena Gereau (Schroon Lake, NY/Schroon Lake Central) contributed a career-high 16 points and four assists, while junior guard Olivia Huneau (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) recorded 10 points.

Down 31-28 at the break, the Gators doubled up Union 16-8 in the third period to head into the final frame with a five-point advantage. Acosta knocked down a trio of three-pointers to begin the fourth, getting the RSC lead to double-digits. Union (3-7) was unable to get closer than seven from there.

Junior guard Emma Riley paced the visitors with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

The Gators (2-8) host the United States Coast Guard Academy tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
