Gators Fall to Defending E8 Champions

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College concluded the opening weekend of Empire 8 Conference play with this afternoon's 84-33 loss to Saint John Fisher, the defending Conference Champions.

Junior guard Malena Gereau (Schroon Lake, NY/Schroon Lake Central) and sophomore guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) topped the Gators with 11 points each.

The Cardinals (5-2/2-0 E8), which led 22-4 after the opening period and 40-13 at the half, had four players score in twin figures during the road victory.

Freshman forward Joleen Lusk led the quartet with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while junior guard Sidney Tomasso registered a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Gators (1-6/0-2 E8) return to the court on December 19 and 20 at the St. Pete Classic, hosted by Eckerd College.


Gator Bites: RSC made its second-consecutive appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals last season…10 players returned from the team…They joined five newcomers to make up this year's roster…Head coach Allison Coleman began her tenth season at the helm with an overall record of 136-84.
