Gators Drop E8 Opener

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College dropped this evening's Empire 8 Conference opener against visiting Nazareth 54-40.

Sophomore guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) topped the Gators with 20 points in the home setback.

Sophomore forward Aniyah Kelley (New Castle, DE/William Penn) registered eight points on 4-of-7 shooting and six rebounds, while Junior guard Olivia Huneau (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) added seven points.

Nazareth (4-1/1-0 E8) turned the tide with a 13-0 second quarter run to head into the locker room ahead 29-21. RSC was unable to get closer than seven during the final 17:38.

Guard Olivia Dobrovosky, a grad student, paced the Golden Flyers with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds.

The opening weekend of Conference play continues tomorrow at 2:00 pm vs. Saint John Fisher.
