WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – In University of Saint Joseph Tip-Off Tournament action, the host Blue Jays got out to a 24-2 lead after the opening period to secure a 73-32 home win against visiting Russell Sage College this afternoon.
Junior guard Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) topped the Gators with 15 points in the non-conference matinee. She averaged 11.0 points on 37.5 percent shooting and 3.5 rebounds during the weekend to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
USJ (4-0) had four players score in twin figures in the home triumph. Senior forward Jordan Ouellette registered 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while senior guard Taylor Verboven recorded a double-double of 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 10 rebounds to pace the victors.
Looking ahead, RSC (1-2) plays its home opener on Tuesday afternoon vs. SUNY Potsdam. Start time is set for 3:00 pm.
