RSC Salvages Split of Non-Conference Doubleheader at SUNY Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Russell Sage College took the second game of this afternoon's non-conference doubleheader at SUNY Cobleskill with a 4-1 victory.

After dropping the opener 12-4 (5 innings), the Gators got started quickly in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the first and another in the second.

Sophomore pitcher Leah Madore (Williamsville, VT/Brattleboro Union) made the early run support stand up, allowing just four hits and striking out ten Fighting Tigers in her complete game win.

Freshman infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) and sophomore infielder Amber Banas (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) both went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Banas finished the twin bill 5-for-7 with a run scored and an RBI.

Junior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) added two hits and two runs scored in the road triumph.

SUNY Cobleskill (16-14), which began the day as winners of five in-a-row, used a seven run second to secure the first game.

A quartet of Gators had two hits in the opener. Junior catcher Serina Garmendiz (Hempstead, NC/Pine Bush) went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored to lead the way.

Looking ahead, RSC (10-22) closes its regular season by hosting Elmira for a Saturday afternoon Empire 8 Conference twin bill. The results will determine whether or not the Gators qualify for the E8 Championship Tournament.
