CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Russell Sage College softball lost both ends of a doubleheader to Alfred College this afternoon, 4-0 in game one and 5-2 in game two.
Junior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) had a single and stole a base in game one for the Gators, while sophomore catcher Emma Heartquist (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) also had a base knock.
Sophomore Leah Madore (Williamsville, VT/Brattleboro Union) struck out three over her seven innings of work.
The Saxons were led by Jessica Remm, who contributed three hits and two runs batted in.
In game two, freshman infielder Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) ripped a single in the second inning and sophomore infielder Amber Banas (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) registered a single in the fourth.
The Gators, who entered the bottom of the 7th down 5-0, attempted a rally as senior outfielder Isabella Vano (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) ripped a two-run base hit.
Madore struck out four in her seven innings in game two.
Alfred University (16-10, 6-2 E8) had two homers in the 6th, both solo shots off the bats of Abigail Gatz and Meghan Neto.
Looking ahead, RSC (6-18, 2-6 E8) is back in action on Saturday as they host Houghton for senior day in a doubleheader.

The righty allowed zero earned runs and struck out 16 across 10.1 innings of work.
