Ring

Leesburg, Fla. – Russell Sage College softball continued their spring-break action on Monday morning with a doubleheader featuring Johnson and Wales and Rivier.

The Gators began their day with an 11-2, five-inning loss to Johnson and Wales.

Junior infielder Emma Anderson (Tolland, CT/Tolland) hit an RBI single and junior outfielder Madalyn Ring (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) lofted a sac fly to account for the RSC tallies.

The Gators comeback attempt fell short in a 14-12 loss to Rivier in the second game.

RSC scored nine of the final 11 runs of the contest, including five in the seventh inning.

Ring made her presence felt again, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Junior catcher Serina Garmendiz (Hempstead, NC/Pine Bush) drove in five runs on the afternoon, three of those coming on a fifth inning double, while freshman infielder Allison Kenyon (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) had two RBI.

The Raiders (1-0) had seven batters contribute multi-hit performances in the high-scoring affair.

Junior Courtney Marioles got the win on the mound for Rivier, punching out two over five innings of relief.

Looking ahead, RSC (1-5) finds themselves back on the diamond tomorrow for a doubleheader with Fontbonne and Penn State New Kensington.
