BEVERLY, Mass. – Sixth-seeded Russell Sage College fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) at Endicott, seeded third, in the Quarterfinals of the New England Volleyball Conference Championship Tournament.
Outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), a grad student, topped the Gators (7-22) with eight kills on .263 hitting and six digs. He concluded the spring ranked sixth among Gators with 687 career kills.
Freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie) added seven kills and seven digs, while junior setter Jack McWilliam (Fishkill, NY/Arlington) contributed 15 assists and four digs.
Endicott (13-11), the eight-time NECC Tournament Champions, received six or more kills from three different players. Sophomore Jake Laborde led the way with 10 kills on .400 hitting and eight digs.
The Gulls play at Eastern Nazarene, the two seed, in the Semifinals on Thursday night.
Gator Bites: 2024 marked the Gators first as members of the New England Volleyball Conference…League coaches picked RSC, under the direction of Reid Hartl, to finish sixth in the NEVC…The roster, which had six returnees from last season, boasted plenty of local flavor with eight student-athletes hailing from Section 2…Hartl, now in his third season, added seven newcomers to the roster, including four freshmen…Four grad students are the roster, including co-captains: libero Deshawn Fleary, (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), and Martel...Fox was selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week five times this spring…He earned the accolade for the periods ending January 21, February 11, March 24, March 31, and April 7…Fox entered the postseason ranked fourth in the NEVC with 267 kills and 153 digs and fifth with 52 total blocks.
