JOHNSON, Vt. – Russell Sage College began its final weekend of the New England Volleyball Conference regular season by sweeping Vermont State: Johnson (25-17, 25-12, 25-21).
Freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie), announced as the NEVC Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, and junior setter Jack McWilliam (Fishkill, NY/Arlington) each contributed a double-double in the road win. Fox tallied 14 kills on .524 hitting and 10 digs, while McWilliam registered 22 assists and 10 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Luke Walters topped Vermont State: Johnson (2-14/0-5 NEVC) with seven kills.
RSC (7-18/2-4 NEVC), which forced the Badgers into .000 hitting, plays next tomorrow afternoon at SUNY Potsdam. Start time is set for noon.
Gator Bites: 2024 marked the Gators first as members of the New England Volleyball Conference…League coaches picked RSC, under the direction of Reid Hartl, to finish sixth in the NEVC…The roster, which has six returnees from last season, boasts plenty of local flavor with eight student-athletes hailing from Section 2…Hartl, now in his third season, added seven newcomers to the roster, including four freshmen…Four grad students are the roster, including co-captains: libero Deshawn Fleary, (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair), and outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central)…Fox was selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week three times this spring…He earned the accolade for the periods ending January 21, February 11, and March 24.
