Harkness Represents RSC Men's Indoor Track and Field on E8 Sportswomen of the Year Team

ALBANY, N.Y. – Sophomores Dominic Harkness (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac) and Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady) represent Russell Sage College on the 2023-24 Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Sportsmen and Sportswomen of the Year Teams. The E8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen and sportswomen.

"Dominic and Tirzah both consistently display exceptional sportsmanship, making them highly deserving to be our Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year," said Head Coach Regan Grube. "Dominic's dependability and leadership both in practice and at meets have been instrumental to our team's success this season. Tirzah is always there to support and cheer on her teammates and we can always count on her to bring the most team spirit to meet days."

Spivey, a sprinter and hurdler, set the program record for the 300m run with a time of 48.74 at Utica on February 3. The following weekend she was a part of the RSC standard setting distance medley relay team that completed the race in 13:46.76 at Middlebury. Spivey also plays tennis for the Gators and has been voted to the All-E8 Conference squads as a rookie and a sophomore.

Harkness established the school record in the 300m run with a 39.88 clocking at Utica on February 3. He helped the Gators lower the program record in the 4x400m relay at Utica on January 26. Harkness is also a two-sport athlete at RSC, playing soccer in the fall.


Gator Bites: RSC set 12 indoor program records this season…Junior Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston), and senior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) qualified for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships…Ingellis who lowered her program records in the 3,000m and 5,000m runs, was selected the E8 Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 28.
