Gators Improve Two Program Bests at Middlebury on Saturday

MIDDLEBURY, V.T. – Russell Sage College Track and Field lowered two school records and had eight top 10 finishes at Saturday's Middlebury Track and Field meet.

The Gators women's distance medley relay team of sophomore Tirzah Spivey (Clifton Park, NY/Schenectady), senior Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties), sophomore Charisma Losee (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh), and junior Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) lowered the school record for the event, running the 4000m in 13:46.76, which also secured them the victory in the race.

Feeney also found herself in the top 10 in the 800m, where her 2:31.49 time placed her in 8th place. Spivey completed the 400m in 1:11.50, good for a 7th place finish. 

Senior Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) ran the 200m event in 31.32 seconds, finding herself in 7th place.

The 4x400 team of Capparello, Losee, Feeney, and sophomore Hannah Maxson (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) secured themselves a 4th place finish with a time of 4:56.80.

On the men's side, freshman Kyle Coyne (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) lowered his program standard in the 60m hurdles, finishing the race in 9.53 seconds, good for a 6th place finish.

Sophomore Chris Pellegrini (Loudonville, NY/Colonie Central) finished the 800m in 2:09.63 to put him in 10th place for the event. 

The men's 4x400 team also finished in 4th place at Saturday's meet. Sophomore Stephen Fleury (Cadyville, NY/Saranac), sophomore Dominic Harkness (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac), junior Jacob Haynes (Cambridge, NY/Cambridge Central), and Pellegrini ran in 4:08.21.

Looking ahead, the Gators have a week off before the Empire 8 Conference Championships, which are February 23-24 at Houghton University.
