RSC TRACK TEAMS ENJOY IMPRESSIVE SHOWING AT 2023 CAPITAL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

Troy, NY--Russell Sage College men's outdoor track and field program competed Friday afternoon at the nearby Capital District Championships, hosted by RPI. In the men's competition at the end of the meet, the University at Albany won the team race, besting RPI 176 to 172. RSC finished in seventh place in the 10-team field.  Once again another men's field event saw a school record fall at the meet.

Men's Highlights

Senior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) won the shot put with a throw of 15.07 meters and broke his own record of 14.88 meters. In the hammer, he was third with a throw of 45.82 meters and added a fourth in the discus with his performance of 39.79 meters.

Sophomore Kaiden Simpson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) had a fourth place showing in the javelin throw with a toss of 45.04 meters.  Sophomore Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) was 13^th in the javelin with his toss of 30.19 meters. He pickedup 11^th in the hammer (31.53 meters).

Rookie Noah Rivera (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) was 16^th in the 100 meter dash in 12.07 and rookie Elijah Gustave (Brooklyn, NY/Cristo Rey-Brooklyn) was 26th in 12.92. 200 meter in 27.36.  Rivera added a leap of 5.23 meters and finished in 12^th in the long jump. He was third in the triple jump (12.58 meters).

Freshman Chris Pellegrini (Loudonville, NY/Colonie) was 18^th in the 800 meter run in 2:10.56.  

Sophomore David Adadjo (Nassau, NY/Columbia) took home 10^th in the 200 meter dash in 23.35, while Gustave finished in 26.18 and was 27^th. Adadjo added a seventh in the meet in the triple jump (11.82 meters).

Sophomore Randal Johnson (East Orange, NJ/East Orange) picked up 12th in the hammer toss (29.01 meters) and 13^th in the shot put with a throw of 8.79 meters.  

In the men's 4 x400 meter relay, RSC finished in fifth with their time of 3:48.90. On the relay were Adadjo, rookie Dominic Harkness (Morrisonville, NY/Saranac), sophomore Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills), and Pellegrini.

The Gators are back in action on May 5-6 at the 2023 Empire 8 Outdoor Championship that will take place at Utica University.
