KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Visiting Russell Sage College overcame a pair of quick Keuka goals to earn a point with tonight's 2-2 Empire 8 Conference tie.
Junior defender Mason Kievit (LaGrange, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) opened the scoring in the 35th minute. He headed home a feed from senior defender/midfielder Ian Maguire (Dunstable, MA/Groton Dunstable Regional) to put the Gators (3-5-3/1-2-1 E8) on the board.
Shortly before the break, Keuka (1-7-2/0-3-2 E8) scored twice in a 45 second span. Freshman midfielder Isaac Smith and midfielder Connor Thorpe, a grad student, were the goal scorers.
Forward/midfielder John Locicero (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill), a grad student, converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute to force the deadlock. He tops the Gators with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Brennan (Albany, NY/Shaker) (2-4-3) made five saves, while sophomore goalkeeper Carson Smith (0-5-2) stopped six RSC shots.
The Gators return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 11 at Utica. The E8 contest is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
Notes: RSC, which has finished in the top half of the E8 Conference standings in three of the last four seasons, made its fourth appearance in the E8 Championship Tournament in 2022…The Gators got off to their best-ever start in E8 play at 3-0-0, and established a program single-season record with five E8 victories during the debut campaign of head coach Amir Pasic.
