ALBANY, N.Y. – In a late addition to its non-conference schedule, Russell Sage College lost 4-2 to visiting Springfield College this evening at UAlbany.
Midfielder Alexa Wentz (Whitney Point, NY/ Whitney Point), a graduate student, scored both of the RSC goals, while midfielder Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, NY/Whitney Point), also a grad student, who entered the contest leading the Empire 8 Conference in scoring with 39 points, registered an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) (Loss, 5-9) made ten saves in defeat.
Freshman midfielder Hailey Gaydos tallied two goals and an assist to help the Pride (8-9), which out-shot RSC 30-15, win their third-straight game.
The Gators (5-9) close the regular season on Saturday at Nazareth. Start time is set for 1:00 pm.
Notes: Forward Sara O'Connor (Rexford, NY/Niskayuna), a grad student, is the program record holder for career points with 81 on 33 goals and 15 assists...She holds the Gators program record for most points in a season with 42 in 2019…O'Connor scored four goals in the 12-0 win at Wells on September 28, tied with forward Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), a grad student, and Stevens for the most by a Gator in a single game…The trio occupy the first three spots on the RSC career goal scoring list and are three of the program's top-four career scoring leaders… Stevens began the week leading the E8 in scoring with 39 points on 16 goals and seven assists…Fitzgerald sat tied for fifth with 26 points, while O'Connor ranked seventh with 25 points…Freshman midfielder Cheyanne Zobel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) dished out four assists, a program single-game record, in the 12-0 E8 shutout of visiting Elmira on October 21…The rookie now has the RSC single-season standard for assists…She started the day ranked third in the conference in the category…Caron was selected the Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 8…She began the week with three shutouts, a program single-season record, and seven double-digit save performances.
