Schenectady, NY – Russell Sage College's field hockey team opened the 2023 campaign on Saturday afternoon facing nearby Union College in a non-conference match. The Gators pushed Union and trailed 1-0 at the half, ultimately dropping the match 3-0. Union is now 1-1, while RSC falls to 0-1.

Union's Molly Halliday scored a pair of goals including the game winner, shortly before the half at the 23:34 mark.

In goal for the Gators, rookie Jaia Caron (Bellows Falls, VT/Bellows Falls Union) made 14 saves in the contest against 23 shots fired off by Union. The goalie has now had 10 plus saves on separate occasions on her young career.

RSC is back in action on September 10 hosting Brockport State at 11 a.m. at University at Albany's Field Hockey Stadium.
