SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Russell Sage College and Skidmore played to a 10-10 tie this afternoon.
The Gators (11-23-1) began quickly, putting across five runs in the first inning. Catcher Dillon Maxon (Troy, NY/Tamarac), a grad student, contributed to the strong start with an RBI single.
After the Thoroughbreds climbed back into the game with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings, RSC regained some control with three runs in the third. Freshman infielder Andrew Knapp (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) knocked in all three runs with a two-out double.
Skidmore (22-8-2) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to force the deadlock.
Maxon finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, while Knapp went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Looking ahead, RSC begins a four-game Empire 8 Conference series with Elmira on Saturday. First pitch of the road doubleheader is set for 1:00 pm.
