ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College's department of athletics announced their award winners for the 2023-2024 academic year at the annual awards banquet.
In addition to several honors bestowed for athletic and academic excellence, Sage also selected the Gator of the Year Award for the department's 21 varsity sports for the 2023-2024 year. In addition, the department also announced the 2023-2024 Female and Male Rookies of the Year as well as the 2023-2024 Female and Male Athletes of the Year.
RSC handed out the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, which is given to the senior student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average. The department presented the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award and also the Rosaire Murphy Service Award. Russell Sage bestowed recognition to an individual as our Fan of the Year at the gathering
Sage tapped sophomore men's lacrosse attacker Nate Kettle (Kilbuck, NY/Slamanca) as the Male Athlete of the Year, while field hockey's Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, NY/Whitney Point) was named Female Athlete of the Year.
Honored as Male Rookie of the Year was freshman outside hitter Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) from Men's Volleyball. The Female Rookie of the Year honors were presented to Women's Soccer freshman goalkeeper Olivia Horan (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville).
The 2023-2024 Dean Sharon Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award was presented to men's soccer senior defender/midfielder Ian Magire (Dunstable, MA/Groton Dunstable Regional). The biology major achieved a 4.0 grade point average this year. Senior women's soccer forward Kennedy Jones (Albany, NY/Albany) was honored as the Female recipient as the business administration major attained a 3.973 grade points average in the classroom.
Women's softball junior infielder Gabrielle Gellys (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) was selected as the recipient of the Aggie Stillman Perseverance Award for overcoming injuries throughout her career and her leadership in the face of these adversities.
The Rosaire Murphy Service Award was awarded to eSports athlete Aly Murphy (Gill, MA/Turners Falls) for her efforts as a student worker at contests of the 11 programs that RSC Athletics staffs workers for.
Additionally, Sage selected the Fan of the Year, which was bestowed to Sharon Murray, the Dean of Students on the Albany Campus of Russell Sage, for her continued support before, during, and after contests.

Russell Sage College's Intercollegiate Athletic Honor Society recognizes junior, senior, or graduate level student-athletes, who have maintained a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.3 or better and have participated as a member of a varsity team for at least two seasons.
