Empire 8 Student-Athletes Continue to Excel in the Classroom, as Spring 2021 President's List is Announced
RSC places 53 on Presidents' List; 9 RSC Teams named to All-Academic Team
Hilton, NY--The Empire 8 Conference announced its President's List for the 2021 Spring semester on Wednesday, June 23. Nearly 1,000 student-athletes from the league's membership were recognized for their excellence in the classroom this past semester with the President's List distinction, one of most prestigious honors the conference recognizes.
Recipients of this honor must earn a 3.75 grade-point average or higher during the semester, while participating in an NCAA-sponsored sport. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The conference states, "Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8 Conference."
The Empire 8's nine full-time conference members sponsored 3,302 student-athletes who combined for a conference-wide fall grade point average of 3.28, which is the second highest in league history. Overall, 29 percent of all Empire 8 student-athletes received this impressive distinction. Russell Sage College had 53 student-athletes recognized with a selection to the team.
Additionally, 135 teams were acknowledged as Empire 8 Conference All-Academic Teams for registering a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the fall semester. All nine member institutions had at least nine programs earn this honor. St. John Fisher College led the way with 24 programs on the All-Academic Team, while Nazareth College was right behind with 22 teams honored. Hartwick College had 16 teams qualify, while 15 teams from Utica College earned the prestigious honor. Houghton College's women's cross country squad led all teams with a sensational 3.88 team GPA, while the St. John Fisher women's golf program was right behind with a 3.86 GPA. Overall, five different teams sported at least a 3.8 GPA.
Russell Sage College had nine teams recognized for their success in the classroom.

Student-athletes representing each of the conference's nine member institutions were among those honored in the 2021 Spring edition of the E8 President's List. Leading the way was St. John Fisher, which had an impressive 188 student-athletes earn recognition. Utica was second overall, as 137 student-athletes that earned this honor. Nazareth had 126 student-athletes garner E8 President's List accolades. Rounding out the top-five within the conference were newcomer Keuka College with 111 and Alfred, who had 93 student-athletes honored.
