62 Student-Athletes named to 2021 Scholar-Athlete Team

RUSSELL SAGE NAMES 62 STUDENT-ATHLETES TO SCHOLAR-ATHLETE TEAM

Albany, NY- Russell Sage College's department of athletics has announced the recipients of the Sage Scholar-Athlete honors for the Spring of 2021. Sage created the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team during the 2012-2013 academic year to continue the tradition of honoring academic and athletic excellence with this special group. With the completion of the Spring of 2021 semester, Sage has honored over 800 student-athletes that have garnered a spot on the scholar-athlete team. This year's honorees include three eight two-sport student-athletes, seven three-sport student-athlete as well as one four-sport student-athlete as senior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) competed as a member of the women's lacrosse team, the women's cross country team as well as the women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. All told, 62 Gators were honored. 18 RSC student-athletes also had a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester in 2021. The 2020-2021 Dean Sharon Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award were also presented to graduate student Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) from the women's lacrosse team, while senior men's volleyball player, Daniel Mackey (Westerlo, NY/Greenville Central) was recognized as the male recipient of the award.

The RSC Scholar-Athlete team recognizes Sage Student-Athletes, who have achieved a 3.3 or better cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of each semester. Candidates must be members in good standing of a Sage varsity athletic team and full-time students at Sage for at least two semesters before being eligible for selection to the scholar-athlete team.
