Records fall for RSC Track Teams at SUNY-Delhi Invitational

RUSSELL SAGE COLLEGE WOMEN'S AND MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT SUNY-DELHI INVITATIONAL 

Delhi, NY — Russell Sage College men's and women's outdoor and field programs travelled to the Bronco Invitational hosted by SUNY-Delhi on Saturday. The men's team had a few school record performances at the non-team scored meet.

Women's Highlights

In the 1,500 meter run, rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) was first in 5:06.79 to break the school record. She bettered the time of 5:09.88 set by Kerry Flower in 2019. Junior Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was seventh in the race in 5:53.64, while sophomore Evelyn Gile (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) picked up 8th in 5:56.36.  Feeney was also third in the 800 meter run in 2:37.42, while McAlonen was sixth in 2:54.68 and junior Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) was ninth in 3:20.86.

Rookie Skylar Grybos (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) won the 400 meter run in 1:04.81 and French picked up fourth in 1:17.09.

Rookie Monalissa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson) won the long jump with a mark of 9.68 meters and also won the shot put with a toss of 10.90 meters. Freshman Victoria Johnson (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) was third in the long jump with her performance on 9.26 meters. Johnson was also second in the 100 meter dash (13.96) and second in the 200 meter run in 29.98.

In the 5,000 meter run, rookie Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) won the race in 19:33.41 , while sophomore Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) picked up third place in 20:58.12.

Senior Claire Connolly (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) won the javelin toss of 25.68 meters and Carius picked up second with her throw of 22.43 meters. Freshman Anna Breidenbach (Monson, MA/Monson) finished third in the javelin with her throw of 17.82 meters. Freshman Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) won the 100 meter hurdles in 18.63.

RSC won the 4x100 relay in 56.34 behind the performance of Johnson, rookie Sarah Masse (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), sophomore Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), and freshman Jasmine Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central).

In the 100 meter run, Fitzgerald was third in 14.34, while Masse was next in 15.07 and Breidenbach was fifth in 15.22. In the 200 meter run, Fitzgerald was third in 29.99, while Grybos picked up fifth in 30.42. Masse added a seventh place finish in 32.00.

Men's Highlights

Gator rookie Dominic Nova (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) posted a time of 2:01.41 to break the school record in the 800 meter race. He bettered the time of his team mate senior Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson) (2:04.74 from 2019). Richardson finished in third place on Saturday in 2:10.15, while junior Jared Young (Winthrop, NY/Brasher Falls Central) picked up fifth in 2:11.45. Junior Brett LaBier (Albany, NY/Colonie) posted a time of 2:35.58 and was 8th and freshman Carlos Temple (Strykersville, NY/Iroquois Central) picked up ninth in 2:53.81.

In the 400 meter run, Richardson won the race bettering his own school record time of 50.88. He broke his old record of 51.43 from 2019. Nova finished in second in the race in 53.21, while senior Arnold Burnett (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) posted a time of 54.99 to take third. Young was next in fifth in 55.94.

In the 200 meter run, Williams was second in 24.03 ahead of junior Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) who was fourth in 24.84. Burnett was seventh in 25.40 and freshman Christian Harvey-Maloney (Brooklyn, NY) was 10th in 26.27. Freshman Tyler Case (Bronx, NY) was 11th in 27.31 while junior Deshawn Fleary (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair) was next in 27.85 to take 12th. Williams finished in third in the 100 meter dash in 11.95, while Mitchell was 5th in 12.16. Harvey-Maloney picked up 8th in 12.59, while Burnett was 9th in 13.20. Fleary added a 10th place showing in 13.55, while Case took 11th in 13.90.

The Gators also finished in second place in the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 44.99, breaking the school record of 45.00 from 2019. Running the relay for the Gators were Williams, Burnett, Mitchell and Richardson.

In the 1,500 meter run, LaBier took 7th in 5:21.56.  Senior Holden Maynard (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) finished 4th in the 5,000 meter run in 17:01.13.

In the long jump, Mitchell won the event with his performance of 5.66 meters, while Fleary was second in 4.73 meters. In the high jump, Williams finished in second place with a leap of 1.70meters. Burnett posted a second place finish in the javelin with a throw of 37.85 meters, while senior Noah Vice (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was third with a throw of 34.71 meters.

Temple was second in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:27.73.
