Title: Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

A 2016 graduate of St. Lawrence University, Spencer Patterson joined the coaching staff at Sage in the spring of 2019. He assists David Taranto with the Gator cross country and track and field programs after a stellar collegiate career at one of the premiere Division III programs.

As a rookie, he was honored as the Liberty League Cross Country Rookie of the Year as well as the league’s indoor rookie of the year. He earned NCAA Division III All-Region honors every year in cross country for the Saints (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and helped the team as an NCAA qualifier all four years with the Saints.

As a senior, Spencer was the fifth Saint finisher at the 2015 Atlantic Regional and in the NCAA Championships. He was seventh in the Hoffmann Invitational and earned first team All-Liberty League honors with a seventh in the Liberty League Championship. He also had a top ten finish at Plattsburgh.

Honored as the 2012 Liberty League Rookie of the Year in cross country, Patterson was a Top five runner for the Saints from day one. He earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors four times during the season and was the second Saint scorer in the NYSCTC Championship with a sixth place finish. He added a fifth at the Liberty League Championship, earning first-team All-League honors and was the second Saint scorer, 18th overall, in the Atlantic Regional. He was the third Saint finisher, 191st and scoring 143rd in the 2012 NCAA Championship.

A graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Patterson competed scholastically in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and played soccer there. He was the 1600 indoor state champion, a captain of his teams and a Suburban Council All Star. He was also an honor roll student in the classroom.

He graduated from St. Lawrence in 2016 with a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and economic and is currently a graduate student at Albany Law School working towards his J.D. and plans to graduate in May, 2020.
