Skylar Van Alstyne

At Sage:

• Skylar Van Alstyne arrived at Sage in 2017 after attending LeMoyne College, where she earned Dean’s List honors.
• A newcomer to the Gators in 2017 as a member of the women’s volleyball team, she played in 47 sets with 19 kills, 18 digs and 14 total blocks. She connected for 14 setting assists with three aces in her 26 matches played.
• She backed up her Sage volleyball with play in 29 matches in 2018. She added 80 kills with 47 digs and was second on the team with 62 total blocks.
• In the spring of 2019, she joined Sage’s women’s outdoor track and field team and proceeded to rewrite Sage’s record book in the process.
• She was one of two Sage track performers that competed at the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championship meet, a Sage first.
• She earned Empire 8 Track performer of the Week on April 29, 2019 and capped the year with three school records in her first season on the team in 2019, (Shot Put, 11.06m on 5/16/19 at AATFCC), the discus (29.09m on 4/20/19 at UAlbany Invitational), and the javelin (30.78m on 4/27/19 at Capital District).
• In 2019, she was recognized as a member of the Empire 8 Women’s Track and Field All-Sportswomen Team.
• She wrapped her time on the volleyball court having earned three varsity letters. During her time with volleyball, she added 172 kills in 82 matches played. She racked up 93 digs, 244.5 points and 115 total blocks. Her career total blocks ranks 13th in the Gator career record book.

Academics at Sage:

• She is majoring in biology and pre-med at Sage.
• She is a Dean’s List student and was awarded the Nancy Slack Award for excellence in science at Sage.
• Also recognized as a member of the Tri-Beta National Honor Society Member, she is active on campus with SAAC.
• Van Alstyne is a Sage Scholar-Athlete Honoree and was named to Sage’s Athletic Honor Society and was also recognized as an Empire 8 Presidents’ List honoree.
  

High School:

• She was a three-sport standout at Maple Hill High School, excelling in volleyball, track and field, and bowling.
• Named Patroon Conference MVP in volleyball and a Section 2 all-star as well as team captain.
• Earned First Team Patroon Conference honors in track and well as field MVP and a team captain for the throwing team.
• An accomplished student, she earned acclaim as well as numerous awards and scholarships for her excellence in sciences.

Personal:

She is the daughter of Douglas and Ruth Van Alstyne. Her Mom won a gold medal at the Empire State Games in volleyball.
