Records fall for Sage women at Roadrunner Invitational

Mahwah, NJ –The Sage women's outdoor track and field team travelled to New Jersey to compete in the 2016 Roadrunner Invitational at Ramapo College.

Sophomore Sabrena Smith (Woodburne, NY/Tri-Valley Central) had a time of 1:21.49 and was 17th in the 400 meter hurdles. She broke Sage's school record with her mark as she better the mark of Sarah Montgomery from 2015 (1:30.6). In the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Sarah VanAernem (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) was 23rd with her mark of 18.81.

Another Sage record fell in the pole vault as rookie Hannah French (Berlin, NY/Berlin) finished in 12th with her mark of 2.30 meters. She broke the record held by Adrienne Dudla (2015) with a 2.16 meters.

Junior Nyasia Irby (Great Neck, NY/Manhasset) posted a time of 13.47 in the 100 meter dash and picked up 24th place. Joining her in the race were junior Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey), junior Kelly DiBiaso (Bristol, CT/Saint Paul Catholic) and rookie Kadedra Allen (Troy, NY/Troy). Lambert finished in 49th in 14.36, while DiBiaso was next with her time of 16.22 to take 62nd and Allen posted a time of 17.13 and finished 66th.

In the 800 meter run, junior Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) posted a time of 2:55.91 and took 53rd, while junior Melissa Grimaldi (Nassau, NY/Columbia) picked up 70th in 3:26.70.

In the women's 4 x 100 relay, Sage took home 12th place in 53.88 as they were paced by the fancy footwork of junior Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey), rookie Jordyn Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie), her twin sister Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie), and Irby.

In the javelin, rookie Logan Thayer (South Glens Falls, NY/S. Glens Falls) was 17th with her throw of 20.05 meters. Freshman Madeline Herring (Goshen, NY/John Burke Catholic) picked up 26th with a throw of 12.76 meters.

In the long jump, Ariannah Logan was 14th with her performance of 4.58 meters, while Lambert was next in 23rd (4.25 meters). Smith was 28th with her mark of 4.09 meters, while VanAerem was next in 30th with a performance of 4.03 meters.

In the 1,500 meter run, Belfast was 53rd in 6:08.64, while senior Ellyn Fisher (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was next in 6:25.49 to take 65th. French was next in 66th place in 6:40.99.
