Gators fall in OT to MSMC, 79-73 despite Lott's career night

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College fell to visiting Mount Saint Mary College 79-73 in overtime on Tuesday evening. MSMC improves to 5-2, while the loss puts the Gators at 4-4. RSC held a 32-25 lead at the half as the visiting Knights forced overtime as senior guard Katie Smith (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) hit a three-point basket with just 0:45 left to force the overtime stanza.

In the overtime period senior forward Annie Keenan (Nesconset, NY/Sachem North) added six points making all of her shots, a pair of field goals and two free throws, while Smith was also perfect with a three–point basket and two free throws.

For the game, the Knights had five different players finish in double digits, including Keenan who had a double-double on 15 points with a game-best 16 rebounds. Graduate player Morina Bojka (Prospect, CT/Woodland Regional) added 15 points with four steals, two assists and six rebounds, while sophomore Erin Smith (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) tallied 14 points with a 4-9 effort from three-point range.

RSC's sophomore forward Bre Lott (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) finished with a career-best 18 points off the bench and was 10-13 from the line with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in the setback. Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) picked up 16 points after making 6-of-12 from the floor, while freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac), who was named the Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday, had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Gators close the 2021 athletic calendar at home vs. SUNY Oneonta on December 17. The non-conference game is set to begin at 3:00 pm.
