Gators Drop a Pair of Matches at SUNY Potsdam Tournament

POTSDAM, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College dropped a pair of matches this afternoon at the SUNY Potsdam Tournament. The Gators fell to both the host Bears and Elmira by scores of 3-0.

Senior middle hitter Mikhail Hailu (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville) totaled seven kills on the day to lead RSC. Senior opposite Deshawn Fleary (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair) added six kills and six digs, while setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Twp.), a graduate student, contributed 21 assists and six digs.

SUNY Potsdam (11-11/2-0 NECC) hit .531 to pick up its seventh-straight victory. Sophomore middle hitter Jason Hendler topped the Bears with 15 kills on .778 hitting, while senior outside hitter Joe Zimmerman tallied nine kills and 13 digs.

Elmira registered a .417 hitting percentage in its sweep. Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Peiser recorded 11 kills on .688 hitting to lead the Soaring Eagle offense.

RSC (4-20/0-4 NECC) returns to the court on Tuesday when Lesley visits the Kahl Campus Center. Opening serve of the NECC contest is set for 6:00 pm.
