Pittsford, N.Y. – Russell Sage College men's soccer team was on the road on Saturday facing the Cardinals of St. John Fisher University. SJFU collected the 2-1 win to move to 7-4-2 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8, while the Gators drop to 7-6-2 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
The two teams were scoreless at the half, before SJFU jumped out to a 2-0 lead. RSC cut the lead to a single goal as senior midfielder John Locicero (Gardiner, NY/Wallkill) converted the penalty kick for his first goal of the year at the 82:13 mark. Despite a string push in the final seven plus minutes, RSC was unable to tie the Cardinals and dropped the league match.
Sage junior keeper Tyler Brennan (Albany, NY/Shaker) suffered the loss after making four saves and moves to 5-6-1 in net.
The Gators are back in action on October 26 hosting Utica University in their Empire 8 home regular season finale set for a 7 p.m. kickoff at ACP Stadium.
