Russell Sage College’s Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins announced the selection of Matt Vautrin (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) as the department’s first Athletic Operations and Business Manager. Vautrin will begin his new role at RSC on July 18.

Augstein-Collins remarked about Vautrin, “The Sage Athletics Department is thrilled to welcome Matt home to the Capital District Region and to the Russell Sage community!” She continued, “Matt will be taking on a new and critical role in the Athletics Department.  We are looking forward to his expertise and experience as the Athletic program continues to grow and succeed.”

Vautrin commented of his selection, “Firstly, I’d like to thank Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins and the rest of the Sage Athletics Administration for this incredible opportunity to continue my strong and energetic passion for collegiate athletics.” He added, “I am beyond honored and excited to be joining Sage Athletics as the new Athletics Operations and Business Manager. Growing up in Upstate New York, specifically in nearby Burnt Hills, NY, and having the opportunity to come home and become a part of the Sage Athletics family is a dream come true!”

Vautrin arrives at RSC having spent the last two years as the administrative graduate assistant with the Western New England University athletic department. In his role, he assisted in all areas of the department including business processes and budgeting, compliance, scheduling, event management, ticket operations, facilities, student employment, and human resource functions.

Vautrin attended SUNY Brockport, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management and dual minors in both Business Administration and Marketing and graduated in 2020. He served as an Athletics Event Staff Supervisor and Building Manager for the athletic department while also providing administrative support. Vautrin also garnered external operations experience after having spent a semester working with Canisius College athletics. He recently earned a Master of Science in Sport Leadership and Coaching at Western New England in June of 2022.

He replaces Rosaire Murphy, who retired from the College on June 30 and served as the RSC Athletic Department Office Manager for 22 years.
