Hilton, NY— The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2021 Women's Cross Country award winners on Tuesday, November 23. The individual awards are voted on by the league's head coaches. RSC's rookie Elizabeth Ingellis (Kingston, NY/Kingston) earned a pair of awards having been recognized as a member of the Empire 8 Third Team, she was also named to the Empire 8 Sportswoman Team. Competing at the 2021 Empire 8 Championship, she finished in 20th place in a time of 24:27.6.

Head Coach David Taranto said of Ingellis, "Elizabeth was our number three runner all fall long and trained hard each practice." He added, "She brought a great attitude and big smile to every practice, whether it was a recovery day run or a hard tempo workout. Not only is Elizabeth one of our best runners, she continues to help our team culture and build the family atmosphere that we typically see from cross country teams. She immediately bought into the process of the program and trusted in her coaches and teammates to get better. She will continue to develop as an athlete in the years to come and will serve as an even better leader."

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Women's Cross Country Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.

These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
