Westfield, MA— The Sage Colleges' women's cross country teams travelled to the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park. Sage's women's team picked up a 16th place showing in a field of 28 complete teams. In the women's varsity 5 k race, Trinity College (CT) won the team title with a score of 74, while Sage settled for a 16th place finish with a score of 424. In the men's 8 k race, Trinity (CT) won the race as well with an impressive score of 15 having swept the top five place finishers in the event.
Sage's sophomore Kerry Flower (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) finished in 32nd place with a time of 19:48.28. Sophomore Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was the next Sage finisher in 103rd place in 21:14.43.
Senior team captain Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) took home 117th in 21:42.73, while junior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) finished in 133rd place in 22:14.29.
Sophomore Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) took home 166th with a time of 26:01.10 and senior Joanna Tavolaro (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) posted a time of 27:19.50 and finished in 173rd place.
Sage's teams will be back in action on November 2 competing at the 2019 Empire 8 Championship at St. John Fisher College.
