Flower and Gators combine for win at Cobleskill Invitational

Cobleskill, NY— The Sage Colleges' women's cross country squad travelled to SUNY-Cobleskill on Saturday to compete in the Stephen E. Warde Invitational. Sage's women's team posted an impressive first place finish while sophomore Kerry Flower (Schenecactady, NY/Schalmont) picked up her first individual crown of the 2019 season as she won the women's championship.

            Flower won the women's 6 k race with her time of 23:51.15 in a field of 90 runners. She helped Sage's women's team to the team championship as Sage posted a score of 30 in a field of 10 teams. The Gators bested Mt. St. Mary College, which took second with 52 points and the host SUNY-Cobleskill which finished in third with 54 points.

            Senior team captain Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) finished in third place with a time of 26:13.08, while sophomore Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was next in 26:19.84 to take fourth.

            Rookie Evelyn Gile (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) picked up ninth with her time of 26:46.05, while newcomer Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) picked up 13th in 27:11.57.  Junior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) finished in 27th in 29:17.32 and senior Payton Seever (Grain Valley, MO/St. Theresa's Academy) picked up 48th in her Sage debut in 32:41.05. Sophomore Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) took home 77th in 35:58.60 to help the Gators to the impressive team and individual race.

             Sage's teams will be back in action on September 14 competing in the Oneonta State Airfield Invitational .
