Rookie Kerry Flowers lead Gators at NCAA Atlantic Regional

Logan Township, NJ—The Sage Colleges' women's cross country team competed on Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional hosted by Rowan University at the Dream Park of New Jersey. Sage's women's team finished in 33rd place in a field of 44 teams. SUNY-Geneseo won the women's and the men's team title went to RPI. In the women's race, the individual medalist was Elise Ramirez from SUNY-Geneseo with a time of 21:50.5 to win the 6k race.  

Sage's women's team combined for a score of 961 and took 33rd place. Freshman runner Kerry Flower (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) was the top finisher for the Gators as she took 107th place in a time of 24:57.8. Senior co-captain Victoria Opalka (Forth Johnson, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) ran the race in 26:28.80 and finished in 186th place.

Newcomer Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) took 215th place with a time of 27:22.2, while sophomore Sevi Travis (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) was next in 224th place in 27:43.5.

Senior co-captain Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) added a time of 27:49.9 and took home 229th place, while junior Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) posted a time of 29:13.8 and was next in 238th place. Sage's sophomore Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) posted a time of 35:06.90 and picked up 251st place in a field of 305 runners on Saturday.

The event wraps the 2018 cross country season for the Gators.
