Gator women runners compete in NJ at Battle of the Border Race

 

Logan Township—The Sage Colleges' women's cross country team travelled to New Jersey to compete in the Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. The meet featured 39 women's team and over 350 individual racers. Johns Hopkins University took home the women's team crown with their score of 33 points. Allegheny College's Emily Forner won the women's title with an impressive time of 21:05.8 on the 6,000 meter course.

Freshman runner Kerry Flower (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) was had a time of 23:40.3 to finish in 120th place and helped Sage to a 36th place finish with a score of 1,036 points.

Senior co-captain Victoria Opalka (Forth Johnson, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) ran the race in 25:14.5 and took 246th place, while newcomer Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) took 288th in 25:52.1.

Junior Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) posted a time of 26:53.1 and finished in 311th place and sophomore Sevi Travis (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) was next in 316th in 27:13.9. Sophomore Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) posted a time of 27:46.5 and was 321st, while freshman runner Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) was the final Sage runner in 340th place in 32:48.3.

Next up Sage will be back in action on October 27 travelling to Alfred University for the 2018 Empire 8 Championship.
