Sage women pick up 6th place at 2017 Empire 8 Championship

Victor, NY – The Sage Colleges' women's cross country squad travelled to the 2017 Empire 8 Championship on Saturday. Nazareth College hosted the 2017 Empire 8 Cross Country Championships Saturday at Parkview Fairways. On the women's side, Utica took the top spot with 29 points, followed by Stevens (46), St. John Fisher (88), Houghton (95), Nazareth (125), Sage (163), Elmira (208) and Hartwick (221).

Leading the Gator harriers on Saturday as she posted a 21st place finish was sophomore Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) with her time of 26:31.3. Next for Sage in 29th was junior Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) with her time of 27:23.8.  Freshman Sevi Travis (Cohoes, NY/Shaker) picked up 32nd place with her performance of 27:34.8, while rookie Olivia Leonard (Waterford, NY/Waterford-Halfmoon) was the next finisher for Sage in 34th place in 27:44.5. Rookie Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) added a 47th place finish in 30:45.3, while rookie Heather Dilcher (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) was right behind her in 48th in 31:18.7. 

Next up for the team is competition on November 11 at the 2017 NCAA Division III Regionals at Houghton College.
