Sage women's cross country team runs to a strong showing at MSMC Knight Invitational

Milton, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's and men's cross country teams were in action on Saturday competing at the ninth annual Mt. St. Mary College Knights' Invitational held at the Sports Dome in Milton.  Sage finished in third place at the meet with a score of 137, just behind second place MSMC (103) and first place SUNY-Cobleskill (93) in the field of 21 complete teams.

In the women's race which was a 6 k course, Sage's sophomore Shannon Farrell (Indian Lake, NY/Indian Lake Central) was once again the top finisher for the Gators as she ran a time of 26:13 for the course and took home a seventh place showing. Rookie Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) posted a time of 26:40 to finish in 11th place. Farrell and Jones were the top Skyline Conference competitors in the race.

Sage's  sophomore Rachael Pratt (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) finished in 41st in 28:59.

Sage senior Lauren Belfast (Ilion, NY/Ilion) picked up 41st in 28:59, while senior Hannah Tighe (East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) took home 43rd place in 29:03. Sophomore Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) posted a time 29:18 to take 46th place.

Also competing for the Gators was freshman Joanna Tavolaro (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) as she posted a time of 34:16 and took home 99th place.

Sage will be back in action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Massachusetts to compete at the Golden Bear Invitational at Western New England University.
